Sandberg’s book includes research data which most of us are already aware of; she quotes that women on average earn less than men and take less than 20% of the leading positions in commercial and political domains. Being one of a very few female top executives, she has had many experiences in which being a woman was an issue, if not a problem. This more subtle face of discrimination is probably the most dangerous and if we do not cope with it, statistics will remain as high as they have been for a long time. We need to make it easier for women to get ‘on top’ if we want to see the world change, Sandberg argues.
