Frequently, business ethics is portrayed as a matter of resolving conflicts in which one option appears to be the clear choice. For example, case studies often present an employee who is faced with a dilemma whether or not to lie, steal, cheat, abuse others, break terms of a contract, etc. However, ethical problems faced by managers are often more complex and with no clear guidelines on how to proceed. The fact is that everyone has found themselves confronted with a moral dilemma at some point in their lives and what is more, for sure they have experienced the state when it seemed impossible to know how to act, as any course of action would result in a degree of harm to someone involved. The ability to make decisions in such situations and to be ready to deal with the consequences may be the toughest test of character that a person can face.
