It is common for companies to produce a written code of conduct, outlining what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour within the organization. The code of conduct also describes the disciplinary procedures that will be followed in cases of indiscipline and the penalties following various forms of misconduct.
The word misconduct describes behaviour that is morally wrong or that breaks a company’s rules. Minor examples of misconduct include absenteeism, or poor performance and are usually dealt with during a disciplinary interview, which may result in a disciplinary warning. Gross misconduct is an serious offence, such as theft, fraud or violence and may result in suspension or dismissal.
The expression describes a situation in which someone breaks a rule or agreement. When an employee decides to leave a company, they must or - a formal announcement that they wish to leave the company.
