LESSON 5: Presentation openings

Janusz was asked to make a presentation in front of a large audience of departmental managers within his company. The topic of the presentation dealt with methods for increasing employee productivity.

Until recently, Janusz overlooked the necessity of preparing a good presentation opening. He therefore had difficulties introducing and explaining the structure of his talks. His weak openings led to unclear and inconsistent presentations that were difficult to follow and hard to understand.

He quickly learned to start with a good introduction to his presentations. He planed the first few minutes of his introduction thoroughly and memorized his introductory words. A well prepared introduction helped him sound more confident and in control. It also helped ease him into the main part of his speech.
